Nice analogy! So keeping your current car, is that denial, or is that kind of like making due with the hair you got left?

...and in this vein, is buying a project car adopting a new appreciation for classic styles of hat, or spending more time on one's facial hair? Maybe both?

That might be midlife crisis material. Buying that Porsche Boxster is like growing a beard and dying it with Just For Men. Look guys, I'm still young!

Street bike: You had long luscious hair, but between the wind messing it up and the cage fighting, you chopped most of it off, shaved one side, and no one at the office dares give you crap about it because you're so cool. Or they think you're a little unhinged. Also they don't make car seats for motorcycles for a reason, so no kids, no problems!

....That may have been overly specific.

I think that's the hair left over, you don't have time/money/or don't want to deal with getting a new car and you don't care if people know

buying new sports car when 45 is the wearing a nice hat over bald spot . (We know it's there but this is better to look at so we don't car, also slightly impractical because whose gonna wear a hat inside?)

Classic car is a beard, it takes a lot of time and effort but it will be worth it, and those who get it get it; those who don't never will! Also hipsters do both(jk)

Kinja'd!!!

Isuzu VehiCROSS - because fuck your rules, I'll drive a crossover SUV that can offroad like a jeep and outhandle your "sports" sedan.

Kinja'd!!!

First gen Cayenne GTS - I have over 400hp from my V8. I have a 6-speed manual. I weigh 5000lbs. And I hate you.

Kinja'd!!!

Ford Flex Ecoboost - because daddy needed to go grocery shopping for five but still wanted a way to put those punkasses in compacts and V6 pony cars their place on the drive home - 2nd.

Kinja'd!!!

Subaru Forester XT - I want a rally car, but I also want a bit more headroom. I also want to make 400+hp and get away with speeding in front of a police officer.

Crossovers and SUVs can say whatever you want them to say just like buying a beige minivan screams "I buy what everyone else buys" like buying a silver chevy equinox, a dark blue CR-V, or a toyota highlander screams "I know nothing about cars". Hating on an entire classification of vehicle for arbitrary reasons makes you look like a dick. I could make this list longer but Kinja was not happy with the four pictures as is. I bet money any of these vehicles are more "jalop" than what most people on here actually own and drive, so it's kinda hypocritical if you diss this type of vehicle here but then rave about how good manual transmissions and rally cars are.
